Existence and Uniform Boundedness of Optimal Solutions of Variational Problems
Given an x0 ∈ Rn we study the infinite horizon problem of minimizing the expression ∫ T 0 f(t, x(t), x ′(t))dt as T grows to infinity where x : [0,∞) → Rn satisfies the initial condition x(0) = x0. We analyse the existence and the properties of approximate solutions for every prescribed initial value x0. We also establish that for every bounded set E ⊂ Rn the C([0, T ]) norms of approximate sol...
متن کاملBoundedness of solutions for sublinear reversible systems
In this paper we will study the boundedness of all solutions for second-order differential equations ẍ+ f(x)ẋ+ λx+ g(x) = p(t), where λ ∈ R and g(x) satisfies the sublinear growth condition. Since the system in general is non-Hamiltonian, we have to introduce reversibility assumptions to apply the twist theorem for reversible mappings. Under some suitable conditions we then obtain the existence...
متن کاملUniform Boundedness of Rational Points
One of the remarkable things about this theorem is the way in which it suggests that geometry informs arithmetic. The geometric genus g is a manifestly geometric condition, yet it is controlling what seems to be an arithmetic property. Why should the number of integral solutions to xn + yn = zn have anything to do with the shape of the complex solutions? You might argue that that the genus is e...
متن کاملUniform Boundedness Principle
The following two propositions are true: (1) For every sequence s1 of real numbers and for every real number r such that s1 is bounded and 0 ≤ r holds lim inf(r s1) = r · lim inf s1. (2) For every sequence s1 of real numbers and for every real number r such that s1 is bounded and 0 ≤ r holds lim sup(r s1) = r · lim sup s1. Let X be a real Banach space. One can verify that MetricSpaceNormX is co...
متن کاملUniform Boundedness of Solutions for a Class of Liénard Equations
In this article, we study a class of Liénard equations x′′(t) + f(x(t))x′(t) + g1(x(t)) + g2(x(t− τ(t)) = e(t). Under some suitable conditions, we ensure that all solutions of the above Liénard equations are uniformly bounded. Our assumptions are less restrictive than those in [9]; thus we extend some previous results.
